Using a Soviet-era camera, the artist filmed a family relaxing at the seaside, evoking utopian memories of the Soviet and post-Soviet periods through the distinctive gaze of Super 8 film. Yet this utopia appears less as a realized ideal than as a faded collective afterimage passed down through generations. With only the sound of waves remaining on the soundtrack, the footage washes over the viewer like an incomplete recollection where personal memory and historical remembrance blur.
