Homeless little Ito is adopted by childless Lord Idzu and Lady Wistaria after his mother dies. A year later, the couple has a daughter, "Clover Blossom," whom Ito vows to protect. When a sudden lake storm strands them in a boat, Ito braves the freezing cold to shield the baby until they are rescued and joyfully reunited.
