Violet worked as a "letter writer" at Lieutenant Colonel Hawkins's company. This meant crafting words tailored to the client's wishes. She faced her clients directly, touching their innermost, honest emotions. Meanwhile, as she recorded the letters, Violet gradually grasped the true meaning of Major Gilbert's words to her that day.
